Fresh Cacao photo by MtkoponeOn a chilly morning, few things are as comforting as a warm mug of high protein, high iron and high flavor cacao hemp milk. This drink alone will satisfy 50% of your protein needs for the day, as well as 40% of your iron requirement. Amazing! And raw cacao adds hard-to-find minerals such as magnesium. The drink gives me an overall feeling of happiness, health and well-being unmatched by any other drink—even many whole meals.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 2 Tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup, raw agave nectar, or raw honey (add more to taste)

  • 1/4 cup hemp seeds, shelled

  • 3/4 to 1 cup water

Directions
Blend all the ingredients together until warm and frothy, about 2 minutes. If your blender is not powerful enough to warm the liquid, either use warm water to blend, or warm the cacao drink gently on the stove. Or use cold water and a few ice cubes for a refreshing drink.

Eco Tip

Unplug appliances when not in use. Your electronics—computers, TVs, phone chargers—use energy even when they're turned off. Stand-by power can account for as much as 20% of home energy use. Save both energy and money by unplugging your devices, or put them on a power strip that you can turn off when they are not in use.  More tips...
